Arvanitia is a beach located between the two fortresses of Nauplio, Akronauplia and Palamidi. Due to the interesting topography of the area, the Arvanitia promenade is created. The walking trail narrates the history of city and leads to the beach of Arvanitia. In 1969 the beach was organized as part of the EOT -Hospitality plan for Nauplio. Although the original infrastructures are somewhat abandoned the area still remains a prominent gathering place for the locals.
Civic Plaza

The main purpose of this project is to bring a sense of community to the area through the idea of a Civic Plaza. Civic Plaza is a communal place that aims to bring together the locals and the visitors of Nauplio by introducing a collaborative City Archive Center. This program is located in the reconstructed restaurant building at the beach, where the the archive shelves complete the building. Locals can share their personal stories – by writing or recording them – can take or develop photos as well as showcase their heirlooms. Visitors can help preserve the Natura flora at the green roofs and stop at the Archive restaurant. The beach infrastructures are also repurposed and host some of the original amenities, a café and a storytelling pavilion. The Arvanitia beach becomes an all year public space that reinforces the relationship between permanent or temporary residents of the city.
